Transport for NSW has implemented a change in speed limit on Culburra Road.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the speed limit has been reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h for a 3.6-kilometre stretch of Culburra Road, from 180 metres east of Coonemia Road to 740 metres east of Strathstone Street at Culburra Beach, following a review requested by local residents due to safety concerns.
“Due to the crash history and the frequency of roadside hazards, the review found 80 km/h to be an appropriate speed. The reduction will result in a travel time increase of about 26 seconds,” the spokesperson said.
The subject stretch of Culburra Road impacted by the change in speed limit runs alongside Sealark’s site at West Culburra.
Sealark is currently progressing the development of its West Culburra site, which is adjacent to existing homes, to offer a range of land lots, affordable housing, industrial premises and retail outlets. Part of the approved development is a new roundabout on Culburra Road, and the reduced speed along this section of road is expected to enhance safety as road infrastructure improvements are delivered.
